Fever & Cough (Day 4)

Jaevis has stopped vomiting and his temperature is about 37.5°C, but still coughing with phlegm. Since he's feeling ok, I decided to let him go for his Chinese enrichment class.

After chatting with my SIL about Jaevis's headache, we decided to bring him to KKH A&E for X-Ray. Jaevis looked a little tired after his Chinese class. At lunch time, he didn't have the appetite to eat. I think he ate only 2 fishballs. He skipped his English enrichment class this afternoon.

After our dinner around 9pm, we brought Jaevis to the hospital. Leaving K with my MIL. Half of the KKH A&E is under renovation, the place was so crowded. We waited about an hour or so. After registration and payment, we went for a cup of coffee at Mcdonald. Back at the A&E, we waited for another 10 mins for Jae's turn. The doctor checked Jae's body and his reflexes. Thanks God! Jaevis is fine. He didn't have to go for X-Ray. We could go home without any medication.

Fever, Cough & Vomit (Day 3)

Jaevis is still having fever. He kept complaining that he's feeling giddy. At around 4am, he vomitted. Luckily, I placed a small basin near his bed. He went to the living room, looking for something to eat. He then took a piece of plain bread and a cup of water. He ate not even half of it, he vomitted again. 10 mins after he took his medicine, he vomitted again. I think he vomitted about 8 to 9 times.

Brought him back to the clinic again. The doctor prescribed Ibuprofen for his fever and a bottle of cough syrup. He also wrote a letter about his illness, just in case we're going to bring Jae to KKH A&E. After seeing the doctor, Jaevis no longer vomit and his temperature went down too. In the end, we did not go to the hospital.

In the late afternoon, Jaevis still complaining about his headache. After questioning him so many time, he then told me that his head was hit by a basketball during his CCA last Wednesday.

His appetite was not so good, so my MIL cooked some macaroni for him.

Fever, Cough & Vomit (Day 2)

Jaevis is still having his fever. His temperature stays between 38°C - 39.7°C. He hates the Panadol chewable tablets, so I gave him K's fever syrup (Dhamol).

Around 10.30am, brought him to Lifecare Clinic. The doctor prescribed medicine for his airway and blocked/running nose. After medication, his fever dropped slightly. But 4 hours later, his temperature went up again. He had no appetite today. He ate nothing but bread and water. Over at my MIL's house, he ate only a slice of bread and a cup of barley. On our way home, he vomitted everything he had eaten earlier on. After taking his medicine, he vomitted again.

Just in case, I place a small basin at the edge of his bed.

Jaevis was having "heaty"cough this morning after his basketball CCA. So I gave him 5ml of Mucosolvan before he went to school.

At around 4.20pm, I received a call from the school admin. Jaevis was having fever at 38.4 °C. When I reached the general office, Jaevis was looking out from the sick bay. When I feel his body, it was very hot, but he didn't look like he's sick. Back home, he took 2 chewable panadol. His fever was down a little, but the temperature went up to 39°C at night.

My First Time

bringing 2 kids to the KK Hospital without my hubby. He couldn't follow us, because he was down with Chickenpox.

At first, I was so worried what will happen to my kids when I was going thru my ultrasound? Can they go into the room with me? Are they going to stay outside the room? Or what if Karyna's awake? Who is going to look after them? A lot of questions in my mind......

I had to drink alot of fluid before the pelvis ultrasound scan. The queue was very long, I had to wait about 30-40mins for my turn. Kept having the urge to go to the loo. Luckily, the nurses are very helpful. They helped me to look after the two of them when I need to release myself.

Finally my turn, the 2 rascals followed me to the ultrasound room. Karyna's still asleep in her stroller. To make Jaevis busy during my scan, he was given a piece of paper and a few pens to draw whatever he wants. But this rascal kept peeping thru the curtain, seeing how I'm doing? After a while, Karyna's awake. The nurse carried her around outside the room until I finished my scanning.

I'm so happy with my kids, they behaved so well today.

Mummy, I Don't Want Mandarin!

Checked with Jaevis' Chinese teacher how is he doing in school. Her reply was: "He's doing well in the class, no problem in writing Chinese characters. The problem he has is, he refused to speak to me in Mandarin. Try to speak to him in Mandarin at home."

Don't think that he doesn't understand Chinese. He just being stubborn. We tried to talk to him in mandarin, but he will either reply us in English or pretend not to hear anything. *Sigh*

The most frequent words he says is: Bu Yao, Bu Yao Dong 不要, 不要动! - Don't, don't touch! (That's when someone is trying to touch his things/toys.)

Grandparents are supposed to communicate with him in mandarin or cantonese, so he can slowly learn some new words from them. Instead, grandparents are learning English from the little rascal. *LOL*

Jaevis' Buddy - Teddy (from Mr Bean)

Jaevis is so crazy about Mr Bean. Whether it's animated or live series, he must watch it. He can watch the show over and over again without getting tired of it.

A few months back, while we were walking along the Pasar Malam (night market), he suddenly stopped and shouted, "Mummy, Teddy! Teddy! I want teddy, Mummy buy." He got so excited when he saw it. "Don't want lah, it's so ugly", I said. "Mummy, I want! I want!", cried Jaevis. Since it's so cheap ($6.90 each), why not. I hate it when we buy expensive toys for him, he just play with it for only a few weeks, and there it goes into the storeroom. But surprisingly, he has been playing with teddy for months. He loves it so much that he brings it along wherever he goes. To grandma's coffeestall @ Kovan, grandma's house, shopping centres, and even "doing business" in the toilet, teddy must follow. Every night, Jaevis will place teddy on the pillow next to him, cover it with the blanket and sleep together. The only place that teddy can't go is "School".

He loves to use teddy to lure other kids, especially to those who are younger than him. I don't know whether he's trying to show off or what? Everytime the kid tries to reach it, he will take it away and hide it behind him. *LOL*.... He getting very naughty.

This little teddy is getting so dirty and he really needs a good bath. But Jaevis just refused to let me wash it.

Diaperless During Nap

Nowadays, Jaevis able to take his 2 hours nap without the diaper on. But I'll make sure that he pees before he sleeps. Actually this started a month ago, cos there's a few times I forgot to put on the diaper for him, and I noticed that he woke up without wetting the bed. So I've decided to let him go diaperless during his nap. So far so good, no accident at all. But at night, I still put it on for him.

Looking For A Pair Of Sandals

Jaevis' legs are getting bigger, and it's time to change his sandals. We wanted to get him a pair of Adidas sandals. This afternoon, we went to Sportslink located at Windsor Hotel & Tannary Lane, but we couldn't find what we want. They only have NIKE. And it's very expensive. Then we went down to Why Pay More along MacPherson Road, but their designs for kids' sandals are very limited and they didn't have the size we wanted. So disappointed! :(

Congratulations to Ah Seng (one of my hubby's friend). Received his SMS this afternoon that his wife - Roslene just gave birth to a baby girl at 12.42pm at Thomson Medical Centre. Weighing 3.3kg. Actually her EDD was last Thursday and was late exactly for one week. Finally this morning she was admitted to the hospital.

We went to visit her in the late evening, we were not able to see the baby girl, cos she in the ICU. Actually we didn't know much what's happening. But we hope everything will be fine.

Complaint From The Teacher Again...

I've already been told by Jaevis' teacher that he's quite active in the class. Last month, his principal has suggested to transfer him to the first session. Because there are fewer students, so the teacher can pay more attention on him. But because of our daily schedule, I have to reject her.

Today, met his form teacher. She complaint to me alot of things about his behaviour.
1. During lesson, he loves to walk about in the classroom Touching whatever he's not suppose to touch. And the teacher has to pull him to the front of the class. When the teacher does that, he will try to hit the teacher's hand.
2. When everyone is singing the national athem, he will walk around in the class.
3. Mess up the bookshelf today, and the teacher has to ask other children to help her rearrange back all the books.
4. Pushed down a wooden drawing board today.
5. Keep touching the stuffs on the teacher's table.
6. Playing with the door. Closed & locked the door when the teacher stepped out of the classroom.
7. During lesson, he loves to walk about in the classroom, and because of this, other children are distracted by him.

Seriously, really don't know how to discipline him.

Everything Must Be Green

Jaevis' favourite colour is Green. Everything must be green. Luckily I don't have any clothings that is in green colour, or else.....

Examples:
1. Everytime we go to the hawker centre (in-law's coffeestall), he will always ask for a GREEN taxi (SMART). If we couldn't get one, he will cried and cried non-stop in the taxi until we reached the destination.

2. If we buy ice cream, we have to order the GREEN one (Green Tea Flavour) for him.

3. Last week, he brought home his assignment from school. A picture of a boy & a girl's face. He supposed to choose the boy's face and colour it. In the end, he coloured both boy & girl's face in GREEN!

4. Today, he brought back his assignment. An apple with the number 1 in mandarin. He supposed to colour it with either red or green. In the end, he coloured it with both colours.

5. When I told him that if he cough because of too much titbits & cold drinks, he will have to take his brown cough syrup. Guess what he said to me? "Mummy, I want GREEN colour medicine".

Spring Cleaning

I've been busy cleaning up the house this few days. Have bought so many stuff recently, and didn't know where to KIV them. Hope I can finish cleaning everything just before the eve of Lunar Chinese New Year. It's quite difficult for me to do the cleaning when Jaevis is around, he keeps disturbing me. He will mess up the whole place and keep touching things that he's not suppose to touch. That's why I have to bring him over to my PIL's house in the evening, so I can finish up whatever I'm doing.

Talk about separation anxiety yesterday. Just now, I brought him over around 6pm. The minute we got out of the lift, he said: "Mummy, ........". Before he continued, I told him : "Hey! What did you promise me last night?" He gave me that cheeky look smile, and started cycling straight to my PIL's house. He will think of alot of excuses, just because he doesn't want to go there. This time, when he entered the house, he told my mother-in-law that he wanted to see daddy. Before he could do anything, I closed the gate and quickly ran away.

I didn't go over for dinner, cos I'm still not done with my cleaning. So I asked my hubby "ta bao" back my dinner for me.

When Jaevis came home, I praised him for being a good boy today. And have reminded him to keep it up next week.

Separation Anxiety

Jaevis is having this problem again. In the evening, I brought him over to my parent-in-law's house. When we reached there, he refused to get inside and insisted of going home. "Mummy, I want to go home. Don't want go mama's (grandma) house." he said. We negotiated for 45mins, and I lost the battle. No choice, I've to bring him back home again. Sigh....

So I waited for my hubby to come home around 8pm, then we'll go over to my PIL's house for dinner. Luckily, MIL is staying just nearby. Just before we leave the house, my MIL came. She brought over our dinner for us, cos she's afraid that Jaevis will be too hungry by that time.

After dinner, I've a good talk with him. And he promised me that it won't happen again. Let's wait and see what will happen tomorrow.

Smell like a pile of shit

This afternoon, I've planned to bring Jaevis to Sakea for sushi at Hougang. Usually, we'll go by the back of our block to take a bus there. Along the way, we'll pass by a playground. This little rascal of mine ran all the way to the playground. The more I shouted at him, the further he ran. He climbed up the stairs, and slide down from the slide. (Like that also shiok). I was damn angry with him, scolded him so many times, still don't listen to me.

After we walked out of the small lane, I decided to carry him and ran to the bus stop (afraid of missing the bus). While running, I could smell a very strong smell of shit. I thought must be some fertiliser from the nearby construction site. But funny thing was, the smell doesn't go away. I felt something was wrong. Then I asked ds whether did he shitted on his shorts. He replied: "NO".

After we boarded the bus, we went up to the top of the double decker (first row - his fav seat). Then I realised that don't know when he stepped onto a pile of SHIT! Yucks! I nearly fainted. Really lost my appetite. Can you imagine? The whole bus (top) was so smelly. I was so trying hard to get rid of the shit from his left sandal by using the wipes. I finished up the whole packet (half), and the stupid SHIT was still there. Worst thing was, my jeans got the shit from his sandal too. Got it when I carried him while running. Luckily, there were not many passengers. Both of us smell like 'A PILE OF SHIT'.

Immediately, I brought him to the toilet when we reached the hawker centre. He's cleaned and didn't smell anymore, but the problem is I still couldn't get rid of the smell from my jeans. In the end, we decided to take our lunch at my parents-in-law's coffee stall. Vince still can asked me why I didn't bring ds to the Sakae???? Can you imagine what happen if I really bring Jaevis there?

These days, he's getting naughtier and naughtier. Seriously, don't know how to discipline this active boy of mine. Really can vomit blood.

Have been looking high & low for a pair of shoes for Jaevis. Those we have seen were either to colourful or with cartoons printed on it. Finally, we found one at OshKosh Shop @ KK Women & Children Hospital. It's black in colour, suede material with velcro closure. We find it's easier for Jaevis to put it on by himself.

Jaevis' Graduation Day

Today is Jaevis' playgroup graduation day. The school is having a pot luck party. Every parents were asked to bring some food for the party. There were fried bee hoon, fruits, agar agar, cream puffs, fishballs, cakes, steamed yam cakes, drinks and many more.

During the party, the teacher played a video clip on the kids' performance (songs & dance). Jaevis did not participate, cos he was not coorperative enough during the rehearsal. Some of the kids did not perform too, cos they are still very young. After showing the video, every kids received the certificates from the teachers.

Poor Jaevis

Jaevis' diarrhoa has stopped, but he is still having fever this morning. His temperature is about 38.5 degree celcius.

He didn't go to school today, it's best to let him take a good rest at home. He only took half a cup of his diluted formula and a few pieces of crackers. I boiled barley water for him, but he refused to drink. Some of the mothers from the M4M Forum said that it's ok for him to drink some isotonic drinks to prevent him from getting dehydrated. So I asked Vince to bring back 2 cans of 100 Plus.

At noon, he managed to finish one whole bowl of plain porridge. Vince tried to mix the 100 Plus with water (50/50) tp him, he refused to drink, cos the drink tasted weird and tasteless. Then Vince passed him the other half to him, he finished up the whole can.

During dinner, I mixed the plain porridge with bovril - chicken flavour, and gave him some of his favourite pork floss and hot dog. He finished the whole bowl of porridge.

His appetite is improving and his fever has gone down to 37.5 degree celcius. He did not pass motion for the whole day, but urinate alot. Hope he get well soon.

Diarrhoea

Jaevis is having diarrhoea since Monday, his stool is rather watery. He kept complaining about his stomach ache and his appetite is not so good.

Brought him to the family doctor. Was told to dilute his formula, avoid all the oily food and dairy products and give him more fluid to prevent him from getting dehydrated.

He returned home, he was down with a fever - 38.9 degree celsius. I gave him some paracetamol and sponge bath him with luke warm water, trying to lower down his temperature. He looked so tired and feeling very grouchy.

Jaevis can speak quite well now. He's able to tell us what he wants eat/drink, what he wants to wear when we go out, what he eats in school, what dvd/tv programmes he wants to watch and point out where he got hurt.

Vince was still having diarrhoea. He didn't go to work today, cos he's still feeling unwell. He wanted something plain for his breakfast, so I cooked some plain porridge for him. Gave him some pork floss to go with it. After taken his breakfast & medicine, he went back to sleep again.

I was supposed to go for lunch at the coffeestall today, but I have to stay home to take care of him. For lunch, I've cooked some porridge for Vince and a can of Cambell's Chunky - Chicken Mushroom Chowder for Jaevis & me. Vince took a little and went back to sleep again.

Actually, thinking of going to the library in the afternoon, but have to much things to do. So, planned to go there in the evening, after sending Jaevis to my MIL's place. When I reached there, it's closed. I've forgotten that the library closed at 5pm on Saturday. I just dropped my books and went back home.

Jaevis is celebrating his 3rd birthday today. We bought 4 butter cakes from Angie Choice for him to bring it to the school. Was actually thinking of getting him a nice cream cake, but was told by his teacher that it's quite troublesome and messy for the young kids. Beside that, we've ordered a Mixed Fruit Cake with Snoopy design for him too.

We had a small celebration in the evening over at my mother-in-law's place. Chris (BIL), Chandra (SIL), Chandra's Mother, Rey (nephew), Vinnie (SIL) were there to celebrate his birthday. Chandra's Mum bought a NIKE sleeveless top for Jaevis. Vinnie bought 2 packets of party pack for the 2 kids.

After dinner, we took out the birthday cake. The kids were so excited when they saw the cake, both of them kept singing the birthday song over and over again. And both mummies were busying snapping photos of the kids.

Jaevis @ Gymboree

Brought Jaevis to the Gymboree @ Tanglin Mall today. I remembered the last time I brought him there was about 1 year ago (July 2003). Met up with Chandra (sister-in-law) and her Japanese friends at the Gymboree.

When we reached there, they were not there yet. Jaevis got so excited when he saw the slides inside the Gymboree and insisted of going in. I've to distract him with some biscuits while waiting for them. There were 10 of us - 5 adults & 5 kids.

It was not so crowded when we're there.

The playground was open to the public from 12pm - 2pm @ $15.00 per hour. There are slides, tunnels, rocking horse, balls, and many more. Jaevis had a great time there.

We had our lunch at Olio Dome @ Wheelocks Place. I ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Crossiant and a glass of iced chocolate w/ice cream for Jaevis. He ate about 2/3 of the crossiant and drank 1/2 the glass of iced chocolate.

Visit To The Changi Airport

Last week, my mother-in-law asked Jaevis whether he's interested to go to the airport to view aeroplanes. So we (BIL - Chris, SIL - Chandra, nephew - Rey, MIL, Vince, Jaevis & I) decided to go there today. We (MIL, Vince, Jaevis & I) took a MRT to Changi Airport Terminal 2.

Swensens Restaurant is having promotion, so we decided to have our lunch there. They have both restaurants at T1 & T2, but the restaurant which is near to the Viewing Gallery is at T1.

So we took a SkyTrain from T2 to T1.

When we reached there, Vince noticed that there's a playground just behind the restaurant. So we chose a table which is far away from there, so that the kids can have their lunch without any distraction. After our lunch, Chris brought Jaevis & Rey to the playground. They were so excited. Seems like the kids are more interested in playing then viewing the aeroplanes.

When it's time to go home, Jaevis refused to go. He screamed and cried when we tried to drag him away from the playground.

Rehearsal For Graduation

I went to fetch Jaevis from school today, I saw his eyes were full of tears. The minute he saw me, he cried out so loudly that everyone start staring at me. So I asked the teacher what happened? She told me that they were having rehearsal for the coming graduation this Friday, and Jaevis was not very cooperative. He refused to do whatever the teacher told him to.

Development Screening

Brought Jaevis to Geylang East Poly Clinic for his developement screening (3 years). The growth monitoring (weight & height) was done by the nurse. And at the same time to collect his Certificate of Vaccination.

Jaevis is considered as under weight according to his measurement.
Height - 95cm
Weight - 12.2kg.

Vince was feeling unwell today. He's having diarrhoea and a terrible headache. The culprit was the "steamed fish" he had the night before. How do I know?

Me : What did you eat for breakfast?
Vince : Bread (can't be)
Me : How about lunch?
Vince : Not yet. No appetite to eat.
Me : Then how about dinner (last night)?
Vince : Steamed fish w/Tang Chye, veg & soup.
Me : Must be the fish. Didn't you know that the fish tasted weird?
Vince : No, cos I ate it with the gravy.

MIL steamed 3 fishes, and one of the fish had an unusual taste (smell like some kind of urine). So I skipped that and took the other one. Vince took half of the fish, and the other half was eaten by my MIL. She's having some discomfort in her stomach too.

Vince went to see the GP. The doctor precribed some medicine for his diarrhoea. After taking his medicine, he went to sleep. He slept the whole night without taking his dinner.
